Hypocritical actions are why police lose respect

The recent effort to make Maui roads safer was better characterized as a fund raising drive for the county.

The only locations I noticed police monitoring traffic were in the two areas with the most artificially low speed limits, Mokulele and inexplicable sections of Haleakala highways. If they really wanted to save lives and inspire the respect and gratitude of Maui residents and visitors, they would have targeted roads around schools and neighborhoods where children are often at risk.

It is hypocritical actions like this that result in firemen getting much more respect than police officers.
