Lower Maui energy bills by selling excess power

We’ve always been taught that we need to conserve energy.

I can turn the lights off when I leave the room and buy compact fluorescent light bulbs, but what’s the point when Maui Electric Co. is dumping so much wind power (The Maui News, July 10)?

Some people are saying we should find a way to send the extra power to Oahu. But how does that help Maui?

If our communities are building new windmills and making so much extra power, why can’t we sell that power to Oahu and lower the electric bills for everyone on Maui?
