Maui performance is one to remember
On Aug. 16, I attended the opening production of “Les Miserables” held in the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
I moved here from the New England area two years ago and, during that time, have missed live theater held in New York, Boston and Providence. I frequently attended Broadway and Off-Broadway performances (as well as the New York and Boston Symphony productions).
I was fortunate to have been able to see “Les Mis” on Broadway twice, as well as performances in Washington, D.C., Boston and Providence. By far the most enjoyable and breathtaking performance that I have experienced was here on Maui. The cast and entire ensemble had so much passion. The orchestra was phenomenal. The staging, lighting, sets and props were magical. The audience responded in kind – hooting, cheering and hollering.
Bravo to the artistic and production team. Mahalo for such a moving performance – a favorite of mine that I will not forget.
