Change in pickup truck law will come from the public

Most of the information on carrying passengers in the bed of pickup trucks is correct (Letters, Sept. 23), with the exception of the age at which passengers can in the bed of a pickup truck. The current law states that you must be 13 years old to ride in the bed of a pickup.

Logic and injuries tell us that no one should ride in this exposed position. It’s time to change the law, especially when you have a law requiring all passengers to buckle up, to protect all passengers.

This change will not occur without support from the Legislature or County Council, but mostly from the public.
