Access to Waihee Ridge Trail has been locked off

The Maui Council of the Boy Scouts of America has put a gate on the access road to Waihee Ridge Trail. Waihee Ridge Trail is the most used state trail on Maui and may see 100 users a day. The trail is in excellent condition due to the Na Ala Hele program of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.

However, the Boy Scouts are being very bad stewards of the state of Hawaii-leased land.

I am asking the Boy Scouts to move the gate back to their own fee-simple property. The Boy Scouts should encourage the hiking public instead of locking off access.
