Ad is not an example of Christian tolerance, love
I’m straight, but not narrow. The half-page Oct. 13 ad with the heading “Marriage is Sacred” is a perfect example of the hate, bigotry and narrow-mindedness that is rampant in society today. I am saddened and appalled by that.
The ad states, “Don’t Discriminate against Our Values.” Excuse me? What exactly do you think you’re doing? You’re discriminating against the values of thousands of intelligent like-minded individuals.
At the bottom of the ad it said, “Brought to you by the churches on Maui.” No, it certainly was not by all the churches on Maui – only the fundamentalist ones listed below the ad. My own church is accepting of all peoples, no matter their race, religion, ethnicity nor sexual proclivity.
Christians are supposed to show tolerance, love and acceptance. God is love, and love is for everybody. If we could spread love as quickly as we spread hate and negativity, what an amazing world we would live in.
The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.
