Industrial waste spread over yards and streets

The recent ash from burning cane (The Maui News, Oct. 13) has filled yards and streets with what can only be described as an industrial waste. This is scheduled to continue all month.

Why is it that this company can spread its waste across all of Kihei and there are no consequences? How would the company feel if I deposited my yard waste at its plant?

Everyone is affected by this. All the boat operators at Maalaea have to clean their boats, all the homeowners have to clean their yards.

This is an industrial waste. This is a clear case of environmental injustice if I ever saw one. Why does Maui put up with this?
