New health insurance plans discriminate by age

I am 64 years old, self-employed and had a great Kaiser plan that cost me $350 per month.

I just got a brochure from Kaiser that says it has “matched my plan” to its new range of insurance. It did not come out and say my plan was canceled, but when I called and asked straight out if it was being canceled, the answer was yes.

My new Gold Plan with similar coverage is $593.

Lucky I got money. My 25-year-old son had the cheapest Kaiser plan at $150 a month. Now he can get the best plan they have for $190. It’s age discrimination to say the least. But if I can really afford to pay more so that others can be covered, it’s OK with me. For those who can’t it will be a real hardship.
