Volunteers make it happen for motorcycle group
As the president of Hawaii Street Bikers United-Maui County chapter, in my third year, I would like to express to all members and readers of this page a very heartfelt thought.
Over the past 13 years, SBU Maui County members have contributed immensely to the opposition to restrictive laws and regulations that target riders, maintained the Maui Toy Run, the Kula Hospital Run, initiated a successful “Tools-4-Tots” school supply drive and participated in various other community-related events and programs. As with everything we do, it is the volunteers that make it all happen.
Without taking anything away from the many volunteers of previous SBU Maui endeavors, I must say that I have never been more proud of this organization, the members and volunteers that have stepped up and the motorcyclists that have gotten involved.
The example provided recently with a very successful car wash was inspiring. So much planning, coordination and hard work by so many people who aren’t getting paid and are giving up a Saturday for the keiki. Well, it was awe-inspiring to say the least. I wish I could name you all here, but you know who you are and so do I.
And to the public who came by to support our cause – from the scooters to the Harleys, the Maui cruisers to the Mercedes, and all the passers-by that came through – mahalo nui loa and an early Mele Kalikimaka.
President, SBU Maui County
