Affordable coverage available if one looks for it
In response to the Nov. 25 letter stating that the Affordable Care Act will force an individual on Medicare to spend $5,000 per year on his Medicare supplement for 2014, I must say that he is misinformed.
Hawaii offers many affordable supplemental policies to those of us fortunate enough to have Medicare, financed by the federal government (and which many people under 65 only wish they had). Medicare advantage plans are available from $0 to 100 per month and cover all the medical expenses not covered by Medicare itself.
The letter writer should look harder for coverage. The Affordable Care Act did not crush affordable plans for seniors on Medicare.
If the purpose of the letter was to blast our president, I hope that the writer ignores this advice.
