High school should not be named after Patsy Mink

I read recently that lawmakers are thinking of naming the new high school after Patsy Mink (The Maui News, Jan. 22).

I know she was a wonderful person but her name it so wimpy for a high school. How would it be to say (if you were a high school student), “I go the Patsy High School” or “I go to Mink High School,” and even to say, “I go to Patsy Mink.”?

Why not a Hawaiian name like Piilani High School? It will, after all, be on Piilani Highway.
