Hypocrisy permeates editorial praising Clinton
The hypocrisy of the Jan 16 editorial, “Clinton still is impressive,” speaks louder than the words that are printed.
On one hand, the writer wants to provide good role models to the youth of the island, but on the other hand the writer endorses a person who had sexual relations with a girl young enough to be his daughter and who was also an employee. He then lied about it for months and finally addressed the nation, shaking his finger at us, saying, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman,” all the time knowing that he did.
Is that the person who so impresses? Because of his lying, his law license was taken away.
The fact that the girl’s life was ruined is not even mentioned and, if it wasn’t for the fact of that pesky blue dress, it would have been a perfect cover-up.
I know that the moral compass of The Maui News is on the left-hand peg and expect endorsements of Anthony Weiner, Jesse Jackson Jr., Eliot Spitzer and Bob Filner, but please don’t hold up such a poor role model to the children. They might think acting like him is OK.
And now the latest scandal is that traffic cones were placed on a couple lanes of a bridge.
In the meantime, the Internal Revenue Service is being used against political opponents, our phones are being monitored and four people were killed and the person responsible says, “What difference does it make?”
