Audit of homeless resource center welcomed
I am encouraged to see that the county looked into the management of Hale Makana O Waiale to discover why an $800,000 loan has never been repaid to the county and why they are running a $20,000 per month deficit (The Maui News, Feb. 9).
I look forward to an audit of the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center management and hope The Maui News will continue to follow this story.
Are the security personnel still being asked to do tasks more appropriately assigned to management staff? Are they still seriously overstaffed and still not managing to keep the buildings properly maintained?
I am hoping that these audits will delve into more personnel issues like recruiting and retention and make some suggestions in those areas as well.
Please keep us posted.
