Downsizing the military puts country in danger

To return to the pre-World War II strength of our military (Today’s Editorial, Feb. 25) in the reality of present world tumult is not only stupid but outright insane and dangerous for our country.

At the beginning of the WWII, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, we were not prepared for war and it took some time to get into the gear. During that time, how many casualties did we have because of our unpreparedness?

Does our government not know or understand what is just now happening in Ukraine, Venezuela, Syria and the rest of the Middle East? Let us add to this Iran, North Korea and, especially, China, not to mention Africa.

And to add to this our commander in chief was absent from the emergency meeting of the security meeting?
