Working around cane fields yields no ill effects

I have worked closely in and around cane burning, cane field plowing and cane field planting, exposed to dust, smoke, etc., for well over 40 years and have never had any kind of lung infection or asthma.

Neither have the vast bulk of my fellow sugar cane workers.

Various health organizations have checked it out and could find no correlation between working in those conditions and any increase in lung or breathing illnesses. In fact, what they find is that we are well below the overall state average for lung disease and asthma.
