Service Center land deal would be a boon for Paia

As a Paia resident, I am extremely excited about the possibility of Maui County obtaining the 36 acres of oceanfront property between Paia Beach Park and Baldwin Beach Park as part of a deal Mayor Alan Arakawa is working on for the new county Service Center (The Maui News, March 30).

This could be a huge benefit for Paia town, with much-needed parking, an awesome greenway and incredible open beach space for the local community and visitors alike.

I would hope the County Council can see the amazing value being generously offered by Alexander & Baldwin and will look seriously at the purchase of the Maui Business Park II property.

It would be a win-win for all.
