What’s best for each individual is what matters

Reading “Planned Parenthood founder had another agenda” (Letters, April 7), my first reaction was shock. I went to the Internet, and I may have to concede that one of my heroines was a racist.

Saying that is true, what is the letter writer’s point? I think we could find other movements or discoveries that happened because of an idea from a nut case (the exploration of Antarctica came from some wild ideas about what would be found there), but that is no reason to reject the results.

Today there are many safe and effective forms of birth control. I think someone considering using one should only consider what is best for her/his situation, and not what someone may have been thinking in the last century.
