Continuing support for youth center appreciated
An achievement worth celebrating. Back in the early 1980s, caring community members in South Maui collectively came up with the idea to build a safe place for our youth. Hence, the Kihei Youth Center.
As one of the first youth center members back in 1983, I, as a 13-year-old, could not have imagined being the executive director of such a great program. It has indeed been an honor to be part of such a caring and nurturing institution thus far, and I look forward to many more years of serving our youth between the ages of 8 and 18.
KYC has the best kids, parents, staff and supportive board of directors that anyone could ask for. We are extremely thankful to the County of Maui, which has graciously supported us with grants and the usage of our facility at the Kenolio Recreation Complex. We could not succeed without our many partners such as the Maui Economic Opportunity Youth Transportation, Maui Food Bank, Kihei Lutheran Church, Kihei Wailea Rotary Club and many more valuable supporters. It truly does take an entire village to raise a child, and I humbly ask our community to continue supporting the Kihei Youth Center as it is indeed a safe and nurturing place that kids can call their own.
Calling upon all alumni and past and present supporters to kokua KYC so that we can all help build a better and brighter tomorrow for Maui nui, one keiki at a time. Imua, KYC.
