Democrats proving they’re no friends to taxpayers

Anyone can write long letters without much fact, but where is one example of a bilateral meeting when the left met with Republicans to discuss affordable health care?

When was the “so-called stimulus” (Letters, April 25) that cost taxpayers almost $1 trillion ever compromised by the other side? This was totally a Democratic program that was supposed to stimulate the economy and create jobs. How successful was that program?

Oh, almost forgot tax breaks. Does the letter writer realize that, as of Jan. 1, the following was passed:

* Top income bracket – 35 to 39.6 percent.

* Capital gains tax – 15 to 28 percent.

* Dividend tax – 15 to 39.6 percent.

* Estate tax – 0 to 55 percent.

All were passed by Democrats under the Affordable Care Act, and not one Republican voted to change these taxes. Maybe enough people who care will get involved to get this country back on track by the next election.
