Keep Maui green with cash crops for biofuel
I agree with an April 30 letter writer’s wishes to keep Maui green.
Most Maui residents and visitors alike would prefer sugar cane fields over housing sprawl, but to sustain cane crops they must be profitable. What about converting cane cultivation into cash crops for biofuel production?
This could not only keep Maui island green, it would produce renewable energy and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Let’s make Maui a model of sustainable living.
