Science is not on the side of anti-GMO group

A May 18 letter writer complained that Mayor Alan Arakawa refused to sign her petition to ban and/or restrict the use of genetically modified organisms.

The mayor probably did the research and realizes that the anti-GMO group has no science to back up its claims. Or he might have known that SHAKA Movement, a well-funded anti-GMO group, has been offering $5 for each gathered signature – this according to the group’s Web page.

So the mayor could be holding out for the $5 cash instead.
