Fairness of fine levied against HC&S questioned

Is the fine of $1.3 million levied the Department of Health against Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. for pollution violations (The Maui News, June 25) over the past five years fair?

Are the amounts of pollutants emitted by commercial and private jets being measured? Between planes and HC&S, which of these sources generate the largest amounts of pollutants?

The Clean Air Branch in Honolulu would do well to research and give the community an answer.
