Governor failed to answer question about hospital

The Maui News had a great article on the governor’s speech at the Maui Chamber of Commerce luncheon (June 28).

Unfortunately, the article left out the fact that the one question asked at the meeting after the governor’s speech of how his success in public-private partnerships and having hundreds of millions of dollars left in the state coffers due to his leadership somehow did not apply to us on Maui with the one hospital we have at Maui Memorial Medical Center not being funded per its requests and being denied an ability for a public-private partnership.

The governor’s rambling response about the back of his hand and rural populations on the islands for 5 to 7 minutes after the question was asked was bizarre, and he failed to answer as to how our one hospital here has been ignored by his administration.
