Method of selecting council members is a sham

Since voters in various districts of the county do not possess the singular right to solely elect the council people for their district, the election is a sham.

In other words, people who live in Haiku, along with other members of that district, should determine by themselves who should represent them.

People who live in Kihei or Kahului should not be allowed to vote for council people outside their district.

This is a scam for concentrating power in several crowded, development-oriented parts of the island.

This is why we see the same slack and immobile faces win elections year after year. And this is why the signs always have the same names. And this is why people possessed of a different quality of consciousness, a different aspiration and intelligence and a better understanding of time never become members of the moribund Maui County Council.
