Police should target speeders, distracted drivers

The Click It or Ticket campaigns by the Maui Police Department apparently result in lots of tickets issued and lots of revenues. However, I believe that same effort and expenditures should be directed at two types of much more dangerous drivers than those who are not clicked.

First and foremost are the speeders who are running the red traffic signals. I was almost rear-ended on May 29, while stopping on a yellow light, when a pickup swerved from behind me to speed through the completely red light.

Second are the distracted drivers using their cellphones to talk, text, etc.

Please, MPD, let’s shift priorities to the more dangerous drivers on our roadways.
