Abercrombie and Schatz don’t deserve to be elected

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie doesn’t deserve another four-year term, and his appointed U.S. senator, Brian Schatz, certainly doesn’t deserve a six-year term.

They are both running on their personal and political relationship with U.S. President Barack Obama, who graduated from an expensive private high school on Oahu in the late 1970s, then left and didn’t return to Hawaii until he was running for president in 2008.

That is not enough for me. I am 21-year resident and taxpayer of Maui since 1993. I married my Native Hawaiian wife of over 17 years here. In 2002 I ran for County Council here. I am a property owner here. I am involved in my public employee union here.

I personally know Alan Arakawa and James Kimo Apana. I know Dain Kane and Mike Victorino. I know Don Couch and Mike Molina. I know Gil Keith-Agaran and J. Kalani English. I know Joe Souki and Roz Baker. I know Shan Tsutsui and Ben Cayetano. I know Linda Lingle and Charmaine Tavares. I know Jan Yagi Buen and Colleen Hanabusa.

That being said, I am not easily persuaded to vote against my own interests or those of my friends, family and co-workers.

Please make sure to vote. Early or late, absentee or walk-in, the Democratic Primary is this Saturday, Aug. 9.
