Vote against Baker and against big-money politics
As the primary election nears, I think it’s important for the people of Maui to know exactly where their candidates are getting their campaign money. The money trail speaks volumes about where the loyalty of your representative lies.
As a Kihei resident, I checked out where the campaign contributions for Roz Baker came from, and I was appalled.
According to the Campaign Spending Commission website, she has raised about $58,000 for her campaign in the last six months. Of that, only $450 has come from Maui. The rest is almost all from big unions, corporations and lobbyists on Oahu.
Monsanto, Syngenta, Dow Agrisciences, Alexander & Baldwin, DuPont, Pfizer, Philip Morris, Hawaii Carpenters Market Recovery Program, Plumbers and Pipefitters PAC, her donor list is a who’s who of chemical companies and big development. I’ve seen her history of gutting solar bills, selling our hospitals to Mainland corporations, killing GMO labeling laws, and now it makes perfect sense.
I’m casting a vote to get money out of politics. I’m casting a vote to bring our senator’s loyalty back to Maui and away from the big-money interests in Oahu. I’m casting a vote for someone who will make decisions based on the health and welfare of the people and environment of Maui, not the corporate interests of Oahu. I’m voting for Terez Amato.
