Founding Fathers had foresight to protect us
Three weeks later, Americans are still sleeping off their post-election hangover. With fitful dreams and violent nightmares interrupting their slumber, counting and recounting the votes, hoping the math won’t add up after all. Loudly protesting and hoping against hope that it was all a bad dream, that all the media polls were right after all, and the “silent majority” would stay home on Election Day.
But no, it really did happen and by now we should all know the difference between a republic and a democracy. The USA is a constitutional republic, not a direct democracy. Thankfully, presidential elections are not decided by popular vote, as our Founding Fathers had the foresight to protect us from the “tyranny of the majority.”
The Electoral College results were: Trump 306 vs. Clinton 232.
