Nowhere near half the country chose Trump

Really? This is the best you could do to raise our hearts and spirits on Thanksgiving Day? Of the four items in your letters on Nov. 24, two dealt with the results of the presidential election.

One correspondent crows of God’s intervention on behalf of the candidate who spoke the truth. Never mind if you don’t see it that way. That’s just opinion. But the notion that over half the country voted for Trump, stated as fact in the second letter, dealing with the election, is false.

With voter turnout at close to 60 percent, Clinton won the popular vote by better than 2 million votes, a greater margin than the victorious Nixon’s in 1968 or the victorious Kennedy’s in 1960. Nowhere near half the country chose Trump.

Regardless of party, this state of affairs should please no one.
