Get government out of our churches

The IRS having power over our churches is one of the worst ideas. Limiting free speech from the pulpit has left so many congregations uninformed about how their votes are affecting their lives. Nonprofit status restricts what can be said as far as political speech.

The separation of church and state just means that no government can establish a religion. But during an election cycle, when there are candidates running who support policies that are in direct opposition to the principles and beliefs of that particular religion, our clergymen and -women should be free to speak openly at the pulpit about these issues. We should get the government out of our churches.
