Trump represents eclipsing of the American soul

After the age of 35, the state of, but especially the changes in, one’s consciousness are reflected in the form and face of a person. Of course, someone in his or her 60s or 70s displays accurately the nature, character and quality of the many changes undergone by one’s personality or soul.

One’s face also shows one’s reaction or response to life and the scars its many conflicts have left. Our paths through life are mapped on our faces and figures.

Military men who have made a career of such service, and who gain privileges, promotions, attention and power during war, are easily identified. Businessmen — Chamber of Commerce types — who rationalize, without good reason, their preoccupation with business, money and profits even dress the part. Their bland but secretive faces and self-compromising patterns are easily discerned.

Neither type should be given political power over a nation. Nor should those of rosy-cheeked virtue, who mistake a book, a myth or a belief for the dictates of their individual soul, rise high in government. In fact, all fanatics are constitutionally unfit for governance.

President Obama condensed billions of words and thousands of observations when he said that Trump is “uniquely unqualified” to be president.

Americans, in general, long ago lost their virtue and capacity to conceptualize. More recently they have allowed their senses “to make a playground of their minds.” Observation is short-circuited by frenetic distractions. Trump, therefore, truly represents the eclipsing of the American soul.
