Maui Coming Home group plans fundraiser on Oct. 28

We caring volunteers understand that we can be joyful in all situations because we are children of truth and hope.

After I retired at Hawaiian Tel in 1984, we traveled and built our first home in Pukalani. I was a new resident of Maui since 1980, and I met the most friendly residents who volunteered in the hospital, prison and care homes. Now my latest hours to volunteer have been with the Maui Coming Home group, which cares for those who have been incarcerated and are returning to Maui, their home and ohana.

Since meeting many former inmates while volunteering 32 years in Maui Community Correctional Center, I have now welcomed some home to Maui these last three years. With many needs we have a fundraiser on Oct. 28 and we appreciate your support at the Maui Beach dinner. Call kahu Pua at 281-9390 or MCH board members for tickets before Oct. 1. Much aloha and mahalo.
