Thoughts about health care and climate change
Health care: Sen. Mazie Hirono, The Maui News editorial writer and their views on single-payer health care. Have any of you really stopped to think about what that might really look like. Let me see if I can make it simple for you, because God knows you need the help.
Think veterans health care and how dismal it has worked over its lifetime. Think government bureaucracy, waste and debt.
Climate change: Yes the planet is warming, yes we need to keep talking about it. That said, the hysteria of our imminent destruction needs to stop. The number of scientists dissenting about the catastrophic effects of “global warming” is growing daily.
Twelve years after a record-breaking hurricane drought, I watched hurricane Irma unfold. With the most up-to-date technology available, they could not even predict her movement from hour to hour. Yet folks are still comfortable believing some questionable computer models are going to tell us what the climate will look like 100 years from now.
What if we took the hundreds of billions that would do little to change the climate and spent it trying to change the living conditions of half of the world’s population? How about providing clean water and electricity to the 2 billion people without it. By the way, the lack of just these two kills 2 million-plus people a year.
But hey, you got your cozy life, why would you let those folks have fossil fuel or clean water?
