Conservatives portrayed inaccurately in letter

I am a conservative writing in response to an Oct. 12 letter titled “Conservatives try to foster ideals on others.” It started with “Attempting to understand America’s most conservative voters, I have concluded these individuals must feel like victims of LGBT rights, of easy access to birth control, of an environment impeding their jobs,” and it went on with more falsehoods.

Not true.

We do believe in God; this is not in conflict with the separation of church and state. We believe in the Constitution as it was written. We believe in liberty and justice, and we believe in our justice system.

We feel accurate journalism has been almost lost with the advent of social media, which brings up the editorial written the same day titled “A dangerous suggestion,” in which the editor finds Trump’s tweets and comments denigrating to the First Amendment. He is definitely entitled to his opinion and has the format to do so. I personally find the president’s wording a little caustic, but we conservatives understand where President Trump is coming from.

The First Amendment does not condone lies and false interpretations of what someone says. The chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, addressed this issue at a press conference last week validating the fake news going on.

Conservatives are not perfect, but we stand tall and our feet are not made of clay.
