Banquet provided several opportunities for veterans

Many thinks to the sponsors, donors and to especially the event committee for the Vietnam Veterans Banquet which occurred the evening of Nov. 11 at Kahili Gold Course. I know there were some bumps in the road in pulling this all together, but I thought the event itself was both very enjoyable and very meaningful.

Like most of my peers, I did not talk about serving in Vietnam when I got home. At that point, the rest of the country did not seem to want to talk about Vietnam either. But the banquet was an opportunity to talk story with others who had similar experiences, and share a fine meal.

It was also an opportunity to be acknowledged as veterans in front of those who matter most to us and to be thanked for our service by a congresswoman who also has served. Doesn’t get much better than that!
