Tsutsui’s decision not to run shows his integrity

The announcement that Lt. Gov. Shaun Tsutsui has decided to leave politics when his present term expires and will not run for Maui mayor in the coming election is absolute proof that he is the real thing (The Maui News, Oct. 22). Choosing his family over politics for the present speaks to the very integrity that would have enabled him to easily win the contest. Congratulations, Shaun.

And if I understand that at present there are two actual candidates remaining, this will make it hard for many of us to decide our personal choice and subsequent vote. Both remaining candidates are solid citizens and doing well at their positions of County Council members. Both have integrity and are willing to listen to the voters and make decisions for our good.

Great for us to have that kind of choice in an election.
