Are parents too pooped to act responsibly?

Oh, the joys of parenting: Strolling with wee Leilani in the park or tucking in the little nipper at night or cooing and billing with every cherubic gurgle. Nothing matches the tenderness of these moments, just as nothing matches those moments when mom and dad forget themselves and choose to trash the Maui community when Junior Boy fills his diaper — which, still warm, is thoughtlessly tossed onto the shoulder of the road or flung into a neighbor’s yard or barely buried at the beach.

Oh, the lapses of parenting.
