Holiday train ride created a magical experience
On a rainy Saturday December night huddled under a canopy, an unfamiliar whistle from the darkness emerges as a train streaming with Christmas lighting stops to pick up important cargo: groups of young children excited and eager to board a magical train to a destination unknown, dragging the parents who brought them there.
The train ride that our children experienced captured storybook experiences from warm milk and cookies, Christmas melodies, a mid-ride snowfall, and best of all, an onboard visit by Ole St. Nick leaving the children two things: a wooden train whistle and a question on their mind. How can Santa Claus and his elves be here on a night like this for us?
Mahalo to all of those involved who transformed Maui’s sugar cane train into a holiday ride of magic. The destination was not important, but it was the journey that cemented a memory that will last in the hearts and minds of our children forever.
A waving Santa Claus on a flashing magical train station, slowly fading out of sight as they go chugging along in their dream tonight with a smile on their face.
