Homeowner requests return of stolen items

This appeal is to the person who entered my home on Dec. 15, 2017, between the hours of 5 and 10 p.m. and took some items of great sentimental value to my family and me. I appeal to you, to your kind and empathetic heart, to please return these items to us. I appeal to your kind heart because I do not believe that you are a thief. I do not believe that you habitually take things that belong to others.

To us, these items are not, and are of much greater importance than, mere “things.” They represent home and survival — the home we were forced to leave and the dangers of WWII we were fortunate to survive. These were the only tangible items left us.

Please, return these items to us. I will be forever grateful to you for having done so. I don’t know how to thank you. I wish I knew you.

You are not a thief.
