The County of Maui must accept access trail

Aina O Ka Hale Pili subdivision was granted a special management area permit on Oct. 6, 1992. Condition No. 27 requires access to Uaoa Bay on the Fisherman’s Trail. This trail was quit claimed by the developer to the county. The county and state both deny responsibility. The County of Maui must accept this trail.

If the trail is not accepted, Maui people will lose the first of many access trails. It is also not proper to mandate the subdivision make a trail and then not accept the trail. This matter is before Suzanne Case, head of DLNR, as she is head of the Bureau of Conveyances. Contact your council member and da mayor.
