Our democracy depends on all of us to cast a vote
I am an independent voter. I vote in every election. I believe that in our democracy, voting counts all across the nation.
Are you disturbed to observe conservatives marching in lockstep with a movement toward an authoritarian government? Are you dismayed to observe our administrative branch of government being recklessly operated by an egocentric demagogue? Are you prepared to experience a 6-to-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court for decades to come? Are you disgusted by the utter absence of dissent and sad failure of conscience by one party in our two-party system?
Then get ready to vote. Remember, the Electoral College only elects the president and vice president. All the other officeholders are elected by a majority vote. So, vote in November, get all your friends, family, co-workers, Facebook followers, social media buddies and others of all descriptions to vote. From the youngest to the oldest, help them register and get to the polls.
Let the majority truly speak in November. Our democracy depends on all of us to vote this fall. Our votes will tell us what kind of country we are when we look in the mirror on Nov. 7.
