Montreal visitors enjoy day with furry friend

On Aug. 15, my wife and I had what was probably the most enriching experience we have had in our 10 years visiting Maui. We took part in the Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddy program.

We were matched with an adorable dog and spent the day exploring the island together. We discovered that Miryakel, our 2-year-old mixed breed, loves walks on the beach, swimming, playing and kicking back in the park. She especially loves car rides.

We have two rescue dogs waiting for our return to Montreal, and spending the day with Miryakel made our separation much easier to bear. More importantly, this program also gives these wonderful animals a day away from the shelter while waiting to find their forever homes.

Miryakel is currently available for adoption. We would like to thank the great staff and volunteers at the Maui Humane Society, and a special mahalo to Miryakel.
