KCA to host candidate forum for two contests

The Kihei Community Association general membership meeting on Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. will be a primary election candidates forum featuring two contests, the mayoral and the County Council East Maui residency seat.

Why is Kihei having the East Maui race, as Kihei guys can’t vote for Hana, right? Wrong! Wrong! Not only can they, voters must if they want a say on what the council does for the next two years. Now is the time to become aware and informed about the 20 guys, as half of them will be running the county government for you. You appoint them as your delegates and you pay them, so you darn sure want to determine all 10 of them.

The meeting is again at St. Teresa Church Hall 25 W. Lipoa St. (corner of South Kihei Road) where the four candidates, Elle Cochran, Mike Victorino, Shane Sinenci and Claire Carroll, will answer the KCA questions.

The free meeting is open to all; no need to register to attend and membership is not required.

As meeting commences at 6:30 p.m., the sitting membership will elect the nominating committee who will interview and nominate the directors for the 2019 board and announce them at the Nov. 20 membership meeting KCA election. So here is your chance to apply.
