Voting for new, qualified candidates this election

Working hard can make Maui a better place for you and me.

I have worked hard my whole life to make things better for me and my family. I’ve always had one or two jobs while I raised my children and built my home. Now my kids are grown and on their own and I’m still working because I need to.

When I look around Maui it seems worse for most people, it is harder to find a place to live, with crowded schools, more traffic and slow pace of restoring land and waters. Our children may not be able to call Maui home and it makes me so sad.

When politicians talk about their experience and years in office I have to ask, “What have you done while in office? What have you accomplished to make living in Maui for our kupuna and keiki a better place? You have been running things since my keiki were young and things are getting more difficult for the future generation in Maui.”

This year I am voting for the new candidates, the candidates that are qualified by their education and independent efforts and successes making change. The old school politicians need to ask themselves if they’re running to serve the people and communities of Maui County because it doesn’t seem like it at all. Let’s not forget that hard work can make Maui a better place for you and me, and get over the just me.
