The Bald-Headed Truth

POSTED:Mon, April 28, 2008 @ 1:21AM

Brennan goes to Redskins

The fall from grace of the University of Hawaii from 12-0 at the end of the regular season is now complete.

Quarterback Colt Brennan, once among the top prospects in the nation when he was Heisman Trophy finalist, went in the sixth round to the Washington Redskins.

The debacle in the Sugar Bowl, then the Senior and finally hip surgery, took Brennan from top-3 quarterback draft prospect to the sixth round, 186th overall and the 10th QB tabbed, behind such notables as Josh Johnson of San Diego (not State).

Things were even worse for the wide receiving corps — Jason Rivers didn’t get drafted after being one of the top-10 statistical receivers in the NCAA Division I ranks.

At least Rivers exhausted his eligibility. Davone Bess and Ryan Grice-Mullins left UH after their junior seasons without degrees and without getting drafted.

Rivers signed as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans, Grice-Mullins signed as a FA with the Houston Texans, Bess did the same with the Miami Dolphins, and OL Hercules Satele did likewise with the Arizona Cardinals.

The undrafted, FA route is a tough nut to crack, but here’s hoping all of them make it. Bess and Grice-Mullins (his name is misspelled on ESPN.com) are two good guys who have gone out of their way to come to Maui and do Hawaii Speed and Quickness Clinics at Maui High School.

Always had time for The Maui News reporter, too. Good guys, who may be small, but they both have big hearts.

Check out the links to see where all those guys line up against the drafted and undrafted.
