Na Koa says Yoshida to pitch Tuesday

August 9, 2011 - Robert Collias
Here is a press release I received earlier today from Na Koa Ikaika Maui:

(Kahului, Hawaii).. The night that many people and baseball fans in Maui have been waiting for has finally arrived.

The Japanese Knuckle Ball Princess, Eri Yoshida, is set to make her first start for Na Koa Ikaika Maui on Tuesday night August 9th at 6:35pm at Iron Mahaera Stadium against the Edmonton Capitals.

The 19 year old Yoshida was acquired by Na Koa Ikaika Maui on July 28th from the Chico Outlaws. The night before her flight to Maui, she hurt her left ankle in a non-baseball related injury. Since arriving in Maui she has been working extensively with Maui’s Head Trainer Mark Stack to get the ankle back to where she could pitch comfortably. Yesterday, both Eri and Stack reported to Manager Garry Templeton that she was ready to pitch.

“Eri is a tough competitor and she really wants to pitch for us and the people of Maui,” said Manager Templeton. “I managed Eri last year in Chico and she loves to get out there and throw that knuckle ball she is so famous for. I think the people of Maui will love watching her on Tuesday.”

Tickets for the Tuesday Night contest against Edmonton can be purchased online at or at the box office which will be opening at 5pm on Tuesday night in anticipation of a large crowd.
