Roblog reaches radio, in Kenosha, Wis., no less
August 12, 2011 - Robert Collias
OK, OK, let's call this precisely what it is: A little self promotion, but fun stuff nonetheless, especially for those who may not have anything to do on a Friday night (Anybody have a baseball game they were gong to attend that is not happening? Just a thought).
I did a radio appearance this morning for WLIP AM 1050 — my mom always told me I had the perfect profile for radio — in Kenosha, Wis., a place that is shouting distance from Zion, Ill., the home of the Lake County Fielders. While the show is not archived, it will replay tonight and my appearance should start around 8:20 p.m. HST. Be warned, my long-winded interview lasts about 40 minutes as we talk about the ill-fated Lake County Fielders, Na Koa Ikaika Maui and the North American Baseball League.
Click here to listen to the show (when it replays, look for the icon just to the left of my ugly mug to bring up the listen live feed), if you are so inclined. There is also a link here to do the same thing. Today's show will be reboradcast one more time on Sunday night, again with my portion around 8:20 or so.
I have done a lot of radio in the past — from the old Rod and Rob Show on KMVI (me and my buddy Rodney Yap) that was actually called the SportsPhone (now done by Fred Guzman and Bill Schindler), to an appearance on Inside the PGA Tour in January on Sirius radio, to the John Noland show in Honolulu on Q108. Still do the latter, but it is rare when I'm asked to come on a local show for my perspective on Maui's involvement with the mess that the entire NABL is turning out to be.
Please excuse the self promotion, but y'all can get a little of the feeling for the Fielders in their own territory from co-hosts Frank Carmichael and his lovely-sounding wife (sorry, don't know her name).
Give me a little feedback here, too, if it suits your fancy.
