Halloween in Vegas makes for a fun getaway from Maui

October 3, 2011 - Carla Tracy

As a regular writer of stories on Las Vegas, I’m on the blast email list of upcoming events from the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Bureau.

I just got wind of some fun Halloween and Oktoberfest happenings for those of you are headed to Sin City anytime during October. Of course, Halloween will parade its way on a pedestrian only Front Street in Lahaina for the first time since 2007, so if you stay at home, it will be tons of fun, too.

Here are some favorite Vegas picks from the blast email.

Fremont Street Experience Hosts Third Annual “OktoberFrightFest”

“Fremont Street Experience announces the ultimate Oktoberfest and Halloween combined street party with its second annual ‘OktoberFrightFest,’ a month-long festival thru Oct. 31. Fremont Street Experience will transform itself into the ultimate adult playground with Oktoberfest and Halloween festivities, including Viva Vision light and sound shows themed to "Time Warp" and "Monster Mash," outdoor bars featuring beer and drink specials, the Second Annual Fall Beer Festival at Golden Nugget and three free Halloween-themed stage shows,” according to a press release from Preferred Public Relations.

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas Hosts Third Annual “After Dark”

“Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will host its third annual ‘After Dark’ Oct. 21-23 and Oct. 28-31 from 9 p.m. to midnight. Daring visitors are invited to investigate paranormal activity lurking in the attraction's corridors for the interactive, dark and haunted experience that takes over the celebrity wax museum.

Hearts will race and blood will curl as visitors see, hear and feel the mysteries and supernatural activity surrounding Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, which was recently featured on Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures. Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin from the Ghost Adventures Crew will participate in a meet and greet with fans on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.” according to Brad Seidel, Kirvin Doak Communications.

Fright Dome at Circus Circus Creates Ultimate Haunted Attraction

“Fright Dome takes over The Adventuredome at Circus Circus and will partner with Compass Films International to theme two of its five haunted houses after the legendary horror film HALLOWEEN. Fright Dome's HALLOWEEN themed houses will bring together popular scenes from the iconic horror movie.

Dark and fog-filled, Fright Dome creates a chilling atmosphere with roaming characters, high-powered strobes, multi-colored lasers and five acres of fright made up of all new extreme scare zones, rides, attractions and live shows. Fright Dome is open from 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 1-31 on select nights,” according to Mandi McCary of McCary Media Group.

Second Annual Fall Beer Festival at the Golden Nugget

While this isn’t Halloween-inspired, the “Fremont Street Experience member property Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino will host its annual Fall Beer Festival during a two-day event on Oct. 14 & 15. This two-day festival brings together consumers, craft beer vendors, live music, great food and hundreds of beers in two very different events.

The first event kicks off Friday, Oct. 14 from 7 to10 p.m. in The Grand events enter. Guests may choose from over 120 craft beer selections and enjoy chef-inspired appetizers while listening to live music. On Saturday, Oct. 15 from 3-9 p.m., The Tank, Golden Nugget's award-winning pool and shark aquarium will host an Oktoberfest Pool Party. Admission is free and beer enthusiasts can enjoy 200 different international and domestic beers available for purchase while listening to an authentic German Oktoberfest band,” says Tiffany Hauck of the Golden Nugget.
