Like a fastbreak, the Maui Invitational is over, but won't be forgotten

November 25, 2011 - Robert Collias
Having been in this seat for nearly 22 years, there are admittedly not a ton of things that raise my excitement level very high, but the recently completed EA Sports Maui Invitational did just that.

IMHO, and those of John Thompson III, Bill Self, and even the legendary Mike Krzyzewski, we may have just seen the best in-season college basketball tournament ever played. Anytime. Anywhere.

I was too busy to get any blogs done from the Lahaina Civic Center during the week, but I hope this Thanksgiving column catches the gist of what we just witnessed.

And I would be remiss if I didn't include my gamer from the epic final and finally, here is a link to our entire week of coverage.

And please, let me be perfectly clear: This was a team effort that included a lot more than just me. From sports editor Brad Sherman to sports copy editor extraordinaire Stefanie Nakasone to do-it-all newcomer Lehia Apana and world-class photographer Matthew Thayer, this was a labor of love. But, rest assured, it was a lot of labor.
