| | Sam Cyr finishes second, one step away from Asian Tour cardJanuary 14, 2012 - Robert ColliasSam Cyr, the recently crowned Hawaii State Open champion and King Kekaulike High School graduate, fired an even-par 72 the final round of the Asian Tour first stage qualifier at the Springfield Royal Country Club in Thailand to finish second in his flight. Cyr, a two-time NAIA champion for Point Loma Nazarene University and winner of the 2010 Mid-Pac Open and 2011 Maui Open, finished at 11-under 277. He was overtaken by Darren Tan of Australia, who finished 68-274 to win the flight. A total of 89 players advanced in four flights to next week's final stage where 40 cards for the 2012 season will be on the line. I like Cyr's chances there and we will keep up with all the action.
